Tips for your baby’s early education at 7 months old
At 7 months old, your baby has mastered many basic skills.
1. Knowledge skills
If the toy disappears from your baby’s field of vision, the baby knows that the toy must be somewhere and would look for it. Babies begin to conduct “Einstein” -style observation on objects. They would study the items in their hands by knocking, tapping, and touching the toy.
Early education suggestions:
The baby will know the shape, size, and hardness of the item by knocking, tapping, and touching it, so parents must pay attention to the safety of the object. Objects around your house should be baby-friendly, hazard-free and non-toxic. Babies may show interest in new items and lose interest in familiar items. So parents be prepared to switch up the toys to keep your child stimulated and interested at all times.
2. Language
Babies will start to imitate your words and look for the source of a sound by themselves. They will try to understand the different meanings expressed in different tones and intonations and will even try to communicate with you. Babies can now understand simple words and know when parents are praising or criticising them.
Early education suggestions:
Now, this is an important stage for babies to learn a language, so parents need to be patient. You may start by teaching him some simple syllables, such as; door, water, take, walk, go, and more.
3. Recognizing people
Babies can distinguish between acquaintances and strangers. They will be very happy to see their mother, but they will ignore the strangers. Babies smile when they see themselves in the mirror, they like to play peekaboo with their parents.
Early education suggestions:
Parents should let their babies play with their friends. Teach their baby to how to wave goodbye and hello to friends and family. When the time comes, you can teach your child how to interact with unfamiliar people. Saying “hello” and “goodbye” is a good way to start socialising.
4. Action
Babies can sit without support now. Their hand movements are more coordinated, they can do pinching actions and pass toys around now. Although babies cannot stand on their own at this age, but their legs can still support most of their body weight. They are able to bounce up and down while you are carrying them.
