Fetal Brain Development: Eat These & Avoid Those
Mamas, eat these to aid your fetal brain development:
- Eat more food that increases the number of fetal brain cells such as egg yolk, chicken liver and soybean. These foods provide various amino acids needed in the process of brain cell formation.
- Supplement foods that promote fast wiring of the fetal brain such as peanuts, egg yolk, chicken liver, beans and seaweed. These foods will help the fetal brain to fasten the wiring of fetal nerve to the brains.
- Supplement iron food such as lean beef, chicken, and fortified cereal breakfast because there is high demand for iron during pregnancy to provide sufficient oxygen for the fetus. You can take vitamin C to enhance iron absorption.
- Daily vitamin supplementation is helpful to ensure the balance of vitamins and minerals needed for fetal growth, such as folic acid and vitamin B12 that produce more red blood cells.
Some foods will damage the fetal brain development hence affect the baby’s intelligence. Do avoid:
- Monosodium glutamate (MSGs)
Pregnant women who eat glutamate later in pregnancy will cause Zinc deficiency in the fetal. Zinc is a necessity for the growth and development of the fetus. It affects the physical and mental development of the child after birth.
2.Alcohol
There is no safe time to drink alcohol during pregnancy because the trace of alcohol can enter the fetus through the placenta. Alcohol can cause problems such as infant deformity and mental retardation.
3.Caffeinated beverages
Ingesting too much caffeine – more than 2 cups of coffee or 3 cups of semi-strong tea per day is not recommended as it will affect the bone growth of the fetus. It will also increase miscarriage, premature birth, and underweight infants.
4.Mustard
Mustard is a salty food and it will not only cause high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis and other diseases, but also damage arterial blood vessels, affect the blood supply of brain tissue, and make brain cells ischemic and hypoxic for a long time, resulting in mental retardation.
5.Bacon
Foods such as bacon, smoked fish, roast duck, and roast goose generally contain peroxylipids, it can affect the metabolism of the enzyme system, promoting premature brain failure or dementia.
6.High-sugar and high-fat foods
Eating too many high-sugar, high-fat foods such as soft drinks, sugar, and potato chips can make pregnant women obese, this can increase the incidence of gestational diabetes and pregnancy-induced hypertension.
Therefore, expectant Mamas should take in enough nutrition for a healthy and smart baby. Mamas should keep their food intake balanced and up to the point of ‘enough’, Don’t take too much of anything either good or bad.
