5 Months Baby Development Index

Movement and head control

Keep in mind that your baby, at 5 months old, will start to roll over from their back to their stomach and vice versa. Your baby may even start pushing up to a sitting position on their own later. They bear weight on legs and reach out when given a rattle to hold. They can also hold up their head and lift their chest on their own. Your-5-month-old baby will actively attempt to reach objects that they spot.

Sight, hearing and awareness

Your baby’s hearing and vision are almost completely developed by now. And that name you so thoughtfully chose for them and have been lovingly whispering and singing to them for months? They just might recognize it as their own and turn towards you when you call them.

Your little explorer is eagerly taking in everything around her — assisted by new motor skills, such as confident head control and strong push-ups — and trying to make sense of the world.

Social, emotional and communication

Your baby will smile at people, recognize familiar faces, and enjoy playing. Your baby can mimic facial expressions such as smiling or frowning. They babble and tries to mimic language, like cooing. At 5 months, they started to cry in different ways, including a hunger cry, a bored or frustrated cry, and a sleepy cry. They respond to affection with a smile.

5 months baby development care

First, the 5-month-old baby’s development has entered a new stage. At this stage, the baby has begun to gradually become active, and supplementary foods can be gradually added to the diet.

Second, ensure the baby’s health. Always take your baby for a walk, breathe fresh air, and get more sun. At the same time you need to pay attention to cleaning, the baby have to take a bath every day.

Finally, protect your baby’s safety.  Be sure to keep the baby’s range of motion clean and tidy, remove dangerous debris, and add protective measures at sharp acute angles. Only in this way can the baby’s safety be guaranteed.

The 5-month-old baby is gradually becoming more sensitive to sound. It is recommended that parents together with their babies listen to music for the baby and mobilize the baby’s brain and senses, which is very helpful for the baby’s growth.

At this stage, the baby’s spine and neck are stuck out forward and there is a forward physiological curvature. At this time, a cotton towel can be used to fold it under the baby’s head as a pillow to ensure that the baby’s body shape is not affected.

5-month-old babies are prone to intussusception problems. If 5-month-old babies have frequent crying problems at night, it is necessary to pay attention to whether the babies suffer from intussusception problems and find timely treatment as soon as possible.

Finally, it is necessary to replenish water. The 5-month-old baby’s skin is still very delicate, and the rate of skin moisture loss is very high. In order to ensure the delicate skin of the baby and the baby is perfectly hydrated, mom and dad must pay attention to replenishing the baby in time.

Since the 5-month-old baby has not added supplementary food, it is necessary to pay attention to the baby’s intestinal problems, such as diarrhea and constipation. If these conditions occur, it will affect the baby’s weight, and will also affect the baby’s nutrient absorption.
